Suggested Premixed Disinfectants for Upholstery

Midmark’s standard policy on disinfecting medical equipment, which is printed in the Care and Maintenance portion of the User Guides, is to use a solution of bleach and water mixed in a 1:10 ratio (10%) to disinfect the upholstery*. This should be followed with a clear water rinse and thorough drying of material. Any deviation from this recommendation could risk damage to the upholstery, possibly causing premature cracking, staining or discoloration.

For convenience you may wish to purchase a premixed disinfecting solution in spray or wipe form. Bleach based products manufactured with a 1 in 10 ratio (10%) have been shown to be compatible. The following off the shelf disinfecting solutions have been tested by an independent lab and deemed safe for use on our upholstery and all surfaces of our exam and procedure tables. This list supersedes all previous versions, before April 2018.

This list is missing disinfectant brands which had been previously recommended. Under the most recent protocols for durability testing, many cleaners failed, and therefore shortened the life of the material. We continually work to determine if other cleaners may be suitable, and to give our customers guidance for cleaners that support a long product life.

All disinfectants and cleaning agents contain chemicals that degrade your table upholstery to some extent. To promote a long product life we recommend you adhere to Midmark's Upholstery Care and Maintenance Guidelines.
