Caution

Motors are thermally protected and will have line voltage applied to them when the tank vacuum level is below the minimum setpoint, either could cause the system to restart without warning. Pump exhaust can cause eye or skin damage. Keep air stream airways from face and hands.

Equipment Alert

PowerMax units use rotary vane vacuum pumps that require no lubrication. Service life of carbon vanes will be reduced by petroleum products. Verify all local codes.

Air is drawn from the operatories through a Surgical Operatory Recover Room Package to an ASME-certified reservoir and then into the pump inlets. Rapidly rotating vanes propel the air to the discharge of the pump, producing vacuum levels in the range of 13-20 inches of mercury ("Hg).

Vacuum level is adjustable by adjusting the pump "on-off" points at the vacuum switch. A vacuum gauge provides monitoring of vacuum level.

A low voltage relay allows "on-off" operation of the PowerMax from a remote unit in the operatories.

A single pump unit supplies a maximum flow rate of 8 cubic feet per minute (cfm); dual pump units supply 16 cfm while triple pump units supply 24 cfm.
