204 and 604 Table Back Release Mechanism Test and Repair

If problem persists after performing the appropriate adjustment, replace gas cylinder.
Newer units may have two jam nuts.
If back section drifts up or down
1.Remove clevis pin from bottom of cylinder. Refer to: Gas Cylinder Replacement.
2.Loosen jam nut(s).
3.Unscrew cylinder slightly.
4.Tighten jam nut(s) / replace clevis pin / test.
If back section is locked up or difficult to position
1.Remove clevis pin from bottom of cylinder. Refer to: Gas Cylinder Replacement.
2.Loosen jam nut(s).
3.Screw cylinder in slightly.
4.Tighten jam nut(s) / replace clevis pin / test.

Removal
1.Remove top drawer. Refer to: Drawers Access Procedures
2.Remove clevis pin.
Press the plunger on the clevis pin, push pin thru spring and bracket.
3.Raise back section, then unscrew gas cylinder.
Installation
1.Thread gas cylinder into housing.
2.Install clevis pin.
3.Perform Gas Cylinder Adjustment.
