Canis Major Receptacle

The wet table is equipped with a Duplex receptacle with 125VAC, Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). This provides additional safety from ground faults. These can be used for a variety of electronic devices.

The GFCI should be checked monthly by pressing the TEST button to see that it trips the GFIC. Pressing the RESET button should restore power to the GFCI. A GFCI receptacle does not protect against circuit overloads, short circuits, or shocks.

If the GFCI has tripped and can no longer be reset, it has reached it's "end of life" and will no longer provide power. It must be replaced with a new GFCI receptacle.

GFCI’s contain a lockout feature that will prevent reset if:

There is no power being supplied to the GFCI.

The GFCI is miswired due to reversal of the LINE and LOAD leads.

The GFCI cannot pass its internal test, indicating that it may not be able to provide protection in the event of a ground fault.
